Crypto.com first U.S. platform with ISO AI certification
Crypto.com achieves ISO standard for AI governance

Crypto.com has become the first U.S.-based platform to receive ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification, the international standard for artificial intelligence management systems.

The ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification, issued by the International Organization for Standardization, is a globally recognized standard for AI management systems (AIMS), defining requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving AI governance frameworks within organizations.

The certification is designed to ensure that companies properly manage AI-related risks, including ethical considerations, transparency, accountability, and the impact of AI on individuals and society.

“We are proud to continue leading the industry and gaining recognition for our commitment to security standards. This certification is the latest step in our mission to build a trusted and secure environment for our global user base and an important milestone in our continued adoption of AI tools and technologies,” said Kris Marszalek, Co-Founder and CEO of Crypto.com.

According to Jason Lau, Chief Information Security Officer at Crypto.com, security and privacy remain fundamental priorities for the exchange.

Crypto platforms are increasingly relying on AI for fraud detection, security monitoring, risk modeling, customer protection, and operational automation, making such certification critically important.

Consistent efforts deliver results

The ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification follows a series of AI-focused partnerships. In November, the exchange announced integration with CoincidenceAI, an AI-powered trading platform that enables traders to create, test, and automate strategies through a conversational interface. The AI solution is also connected to Bybit and KuCoin.

In December, the exchange partnered with AI-powered crypto assistant Doblox, allowing users in approved jurisdictions to trade assets directly through Doblox using its analytics tools.

Additionally, Kris Marszalek recently paid $70 million for the domain name AI.com — the highest publicly disclosed price for a domain acquisition. The deal, completed in April 2025, was conducted entirely in cryptocurrency.

AI.com has since launched a consumer platform featuring autonomous AI agents designed to act on behalf of users, performing tasks such as stock trading, calendar management, and workflow automation. Marszalek described the platform as the “front door to AI” through a decentralized network.

The exchange stated that ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification complements its existing compliance framework, which includes ISO/IEC 27001 for information security management, ISO/IEC 27701 for privacy information management, ISO 22301 for business continuity management, PCI:DSS compliance, and Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type 2. The company has also completed an independent Tier 4 assessment — the highest level under NIST cybersecurity and privacy standards.

Meanwhile, according to Gartner, global AI sector spending is expected to reach nearly $1.5 trillion by the end of 2025, with growth accelerating as the four largest U.S. technology giants — Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft — plan to invest a combined $650 billion in AI infrastructure.
