Binance Web3 Wallet integrates Sonic blockchain
Binance Wallet has officially added support for the Sonic blockchain, enabling users to transfer assets and interact with decentralized applications (dApps) directly on the high-speed network.
The integration, announced on May 1, positions Sonic among a growing list of blockchains supported by Binance’s multichain wallet, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and others, reports Crypto News.
To promote user engagement, Binance will launch a promotional airdrop campaign, rewarding users who use its wallet to interact with dApps on the Sonic network. Details of the airdrop are still pending, but eligible users will receive Sonic tokens as part of the effort to increase adoption of both the network and Binance’s wallet infrastructure.
Sonic expands access with Binance support
The integration follows Binance’s recent move to support bridged USDC on Sonic. That upgrade is designed to improve liquidity and utility for the network’s native tokens. However, Binance clarified that this bridged USDC, issued by Sonic Labs, is not redeemable with Circle and should be used with caution.
Formerly branded as Fantom, the Sonic network is a high-performance layer-1 chain offering near-instant transaction finality. It supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), making it fully interoperable with Ethereum-based tools and layer-2 networks. Sonic’s key use cases include DeFi protocols, NFT applications, and blockchain gaming — all of which benefit from the network’s low fees and fast confirmation times.
With this integration, Binance strengthens its ties to the Sonic ecosystem and continues its expansion into emerging blockchain infrastructure. For Sonic, the move provides access to Binance’s large user base and wallet tools, giving it a critical boost in liquidity and application development.
Recently we wrote that regulatory challenges in the United States have forced Sonic Labs to shift its focus from a previously announced USD-based algorithmic stablecoin to a stablecoin backed by the UAE dirham.
