Pavel Durov announces native Gram crypto wallet launch in Telegram
Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced that the messaging platform will launch its native non-custodial Gram crypto wallet this summer. The product could potentially become available to more than 1 billion active Telegram users.
According to Durov's announcement, the wallet will enable users to send cryptocurrencies instantly and without fees directly within Telegram. The company has not yet disclosed an exact launch date or the product's technical specifications.

"This will be the largest launch of a non-custodial crypto wallet in human history," Durov said.
Telegram continues expanding its crypto ecosystem
Telegram surpassed 1 billion monthly active users in 2025. Even partial adoption of the wallet could significantly expand the user base of non-custodial crypto wallets and peer-to-peer payment services.
The new wallet will become part of Telegram's broader efforts to expand its cryptocurrency infrastructure.
Eight years after the project's original debut
The announcement comes several weeks after The Open Network (TON) team revealed plans to rename the network's native token, Toncoin, to Gram.
The name was originally used in the TON white paper published in 2018. Durov described the rebranding as a return to the project's original vision.
After settling charges brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2020, Telegram abandoned its blockchain project. The company later began actively supporting the TON ecosystem and integrating Web3 services into its messaging platform.
Following the native wallet announcement, the price of GRAM rose by approximately 8%. Analysts believe the token needs to establish support above the $1.55 level to maintain its upward momentum. Investors have linked the rally to the wallet's potential access to Telegram's billion-user audience and the continued expansion of the platform's crypto infrastructure.
Earlier, Pavel Durov stated that the TON blockchain had become the fastest Layer-1 network among existing solutions. According to him, transaction finality on TON takes approximately 0.6 seconds, compared with roughly one hour on the Bitcoin network.
