Insider purchases follow quarterly update

As reported by CoinDesk, Mateen acquires 306,981 Class A shares across Aug. 5 and Aug. 6 after American Bitcoin posts its latest earnings. Regulatory filings show he buys about 145,000 shares on Aug. 5 for roughly $925,000 at an average price of $6.40 each, then adds about 162,000 shares on Aug. 6 for approximately $1 million at an average price of $6.19.

Following the transactions, Mateen beneficially owns 492,297 shares of American Bitcoin's Class A common stock, reflecting adjustments after the company's recent reverse stock split. Mateen, a Tinder co-founder, has served on the board of ABTC since March 2025.

Mining expansion and treasury strategy in focus

American Bitcoin is a Miami-based, Nasdaq-listed bitcoin mining and accumulation company backed by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. The company is positioning itself as a vehicle for bitcoin exposure through large-scale mining and purchases for its corporate treasury, making insider buying a closely watched signal for investors following that strategy.

The company reports a net loss of about $57 million in the second quarter while increasing mining output and bitcoin holdings. It mines roughly 932 bitcoin during the quarter, its highest quarterly production to date, and expands its treasury to more than 8,000 BTC as it continues its mine-and-hold approach.

Separately, Matt Prusak, former president and interim chief financial officer of American Bitcoin, leaves the company to join Giga Energy, CoinDesk reports earlier this week.

Our earlier article examined the Senate debate around the Clarity Act and how lawmakers are trying to bring more digital-asset activity under a clearer U.S. regulatory and compliance framework. It highlighted arguments that stronger Bank Secrecy Act and Treasury authority could improve sanctions and anti-money-laundering enforcement while keeping crypto innovation and market influence onshore as blockchain-based payment networks scale.
