Bitfinex Securities completes record $50 million Alkemya tokenized capital raise
Bitfinex raises $50M with Alkemya nickel token

Bitfinex Securities has completed its largest capital raise to date, securing $50 million for metals company Alkemya through a tokenized security backed by interests in a nickel partnership. The deal links blockchain-based securities to a large physical commodity asset and gives Alkemya fresh capital without requiring it to sell the underlying nickel inventory.

Highlights

  • Bitfinex Securities raised a record $50 million through ALKN.
  • The token is backed by interests tied to $1.64 billion of nickel.
  • Proceeds will support engineered nickel products.

The fundraising was completed through ALKN, a tokenized security representing limited partnership interests in Luxembourg-based Alkemya Metacore SCSp, according to Crypto.News. The partnership holds about 7 million meters of 99.99% pure nickel wire that has been independently valued at roughly $1.64 billion.

A record raise built on physical nickel

The $50 million transaction surpasses Bitfinex Securities previous fundraising record of $30 million, which was set by USTBL, a tokenized product tied to short-term U.S. Treasuries. Following the Alkemya deal, the platform has completed seven capital raises and listed 16 assets.

ALKN gives eligible investors fractional interests in the Luxembourg partnership rather than direct ownership of individual sections of nickel wire. The legal interest is recorded on-chain, while the underlying commodity remains held through Alkemya Metacore.

The structure allows Alkemya to raise capital against an existing physical asset base while retaining the broader nickel position. Proceeds are expected to support commercialization of engineered nickel products for industrial uses, including semiconductor applications.

Additional ALKN tokens will remain available to eligible investors through Oct. 15 as Alkemya prepares another fundraising tranche. Per Bitfinex Securities's official press release, ALKN tokens will actually be available for secondary trading on Bitfinex Securities' 24/7 venue immediately following the initial capital raise.

Tokenization moves beyond gold and treasuries

The transaction reflects a broader push to bring real-world assets onto blockchain-based securities infrastructure. Tokenized commodities and equities exceeded $7 billion earlier this year, with gold-backed products still dominant but oil, gas, and agricultural assets also gaining traction.

Bitfinex Securities has already used its platform for tokenized government debt and corporate financing. Earlier offerings included USTBL, a short-term Treasury-linked product, as well as tokenized debt used to finance a hotel project in El Salvador and other structured securities.

The Alkemya deal is different because it places a large industrial commodity reserve at the center of the financing structure. Nickel has strategic importance across manufacturing, batteries, and semiconductor-related applications, making the transaction a test of whether tokenization can attract capital to assets beyond traditional financial securities.

Why the deal matters for tokenized markets

The size of the raise is significant for a market that is still relatively small compared with conventional capital markets. A $50 million transaction backed by a $1.64 billion physical asset base shows how tokenized structures can be used to unlock financing against commodities without forcing an outright sale of the underlying holdings.

The next test will be liquidity. ALKN tokens will become available for secondary trading immediately after the initial capital raise, leaving post-issuance investor demand to be tested in the open market.
