Avalanche price prediction: AVAX challenges long-term resistance after Helicon upgrade
Avalanche faces long-term trendline resistance

After several sharp swings, Avalanche has another catalyst to test whether demand for AVAX can hold up. The bigger question now is whether the rally can survive stretched technical conditions and develop into something more durable.

The Helicon upgrade went live on the Avalanche mainnet on September 22nd. Helicon comprises six Avalanche Community Proposals and implements multiple network upgrades simultaneously: Continuous Execution on the C-Chain; a new dynamic minimum gas price; auto-staking renewal; a lowering of the minimum staking duration from two weeks to 48 hours; and an increase in the minimum validator uptime from 80% to 90%.

Still, Avalanche has said Helicon is more about making transaction execution more predictable under congestion than raising headline network speed, with more flexibility around staking economics, and less about the headline performance itself. That's especially true for institutional use cases with the NYSE's recent enthusiasm for Avalanche infrastructure.

At the same time, talk of an altseason is getting louder. The Altcoin Cycle Signal by Glassnode spiked at 81.25 out of 100 on September 22, while Bitcoin dominance hovers below 60%. The more cautious Blockchain Center Altcoin Season Index, on the other hand, only reads 51, implying that its calculation isn't yet indicating an altseason across the market.

$11.50–11.65 becomes the key trendline test

AVAX followed the base-case scenario from the previous analysis. The token corrected into the $10.50–9.75 target zone, where buyers stepped in quickly and pushed the price back above $11.

Attention now shifts to a long-term descending trendline that dates back to December 2024. The dynamic resistance area currently sits around $11.50–11.65.

A clean break through that zone over the coming days could give the rally room to extend toward $13.50.

Failure to clear it would materially increase the risk of another move back toward $9.75. The RSI (14) remains in extremely overbought territory, leaving AVAX more vulnerable to profit-taking if fresh catalysts fail to appear.

Strong narrative now meets an overheated market

Avalanche currently has several supportive themes working at once: recent NYSE testing, the completed Helicon launch and improving demand for altcoins more broadly. Together, they keep the fundamental backdrop relatively strong even after AVAX’s sharp advance.

The speed of that move is now the main concern. If the market is genuinely entering a broader rotation into altcoins, current overbought conditions may lead only to a brief pause. If those altseason signals prove premature, however, an extremely stretched RSI could quickly bring profit-taking back into the market.
