Robinhood expands trading tools for active traders with AI agents, perps and weekend stock access
Robinhood is broadening its platform for active investors as competition intensifies among brokers offering longer trading hours and higher-risk products. The company is adding AI-powered trading agents, leveraged crypto perpetual futures and weekend access to select U.S. stocks and ETFs as it pushes to keep customers trading داخل its app.
Highlights
- Robinhood introduces AI agents powered by OpenAI and Anthropic, allowing customers to automate market analysis and trading within a separate account, with user approval required for each trade.
- New product offerings include crypto perpetual futures with up to 10x leverage, extended options trading hours, increased intraday margin, and contracts linked to corporate earnings via Cboe.
- Robinhood will enable weekend trading in select U.S. stocks and ETFs through Bruce ATS, intensifying competition with brokers like Charles Schwab and Fidelity for active traders.
Product rollout targets heavier trading activity
As reported by CoinDesk, Robinhood unveils the new features on Tuesday at its HOOD Summit in Houston, Texas, as part of a broader effort to capture more activity from frequent traders. The brokerage says customers will be able to create an AI agent inside the app by choosing a model from OpenAI or Anthropic and linking it to a separate trading account. The agent can analyze markets, build watchlists and trade stocks, options and crypto, while still requiring customer approval for each proposed trade.
Robinhood is also introducing crypto perpetual futures with leverage of up to 10 times, extending options trading hours, offering more intraday margin and adding contracts tied to corporate earnings metrics through Cboe. The company also plans to offer weekend trading in select U.S. stocks and ETFs through Bruce ATS, building on its 24 Hour Market launched in 2023.
Broker rivalry grows across stocks and crypto
Robinhood’s latest push reflects rising competition for active traders, a customer group that increasingly expects broader market access and near-continuous trading shaped by crypto exchange habits. Traditional brokers including Charles Schwab, Interactive Brokers and Fidelity have also expanded their product lineups to appeal to that demand.Vice president of product management Abhishek Fatehpuria says becoming the top platform for active traders is one of the company’s priorities, adding that Robinhood is not focused on a single asset class. The strategy marks a further move away from a basic retail brokerage model toward a platform centered on more flexible and higher-intensity trading tools.
