Porsche is shutting down its Web3 project and PIONΞERS CIRCLE, ending an experiment that began with its 911 NFT collection nearly four years ago. The automaker did not give a specific reason for closing the initiative but confirmed that the digital assets themselves will remain on the blockchain.
The decision ends active management of the community built around the PORSCHΞ 911 collection. Holders will retain their NFTs and that the PIONΞERS Discord server will become a read-only archive. The projects X account will also stop receiving active updates.

Porsche entered the NFT market with a collection based on its 911 sports car in January 2023. The company initially planned 7,500 digital collectibles, designed to let owners influence the appearance of their individual virtual cars through different customization paths. Porsche described the initiative at the time as the beginning of a longer Web3 strategy centered on co-creation and community participation.
The launch, however, struggled to generate the demand Porsche had expected. Minting was stopped before the planned supply was reached, and the company subsequently concentrated more heavily on building a community around existing holders. Current reports put the final collection at 2,363 NFTs.
PIONΞERS CIRCLE eventually expanded beyond digital collectibles. Porsche organized online discussions as well as physical experiences for NFT owners, including events connected with its cars and racetracks.
The shutdown draws an important line between ownership of the NFTs and Porsche's involvement in the ecosystem surrounding them. Existing tokens are not being withdrawn or removed from their holders' wallets.
What is disappearing is the active brand infrastructure that accompanied them. New conversations on the project's Discord community will end, while its existing content will remain accessible as an archive. The dedicated X account will no longer be actively maintained.
Porsche has not announced a replacement Web3 initiative or provided a timetable for returning to the sector.
The project is being shut down at a time when the company is trying to cut costs amid weaker demand for its cars. At the same time, the closure raises a central question surrounding corporate NFT projects: whether blockchain assets can continue to exist after the company that created them stops supporting the broader project.
For Porsche holders, ownership of the 911 NFTs remains intact, but the organized community and brand-led activities that gave the collection uses beyond the tokens themselves are being wound down. The decision therefore closes the active phase of Porsche's first major NFT experiment without eliminating the digital assets it produced.
