Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin has announced the crew for its upcoming NS-34 mission. Among the six participants is Tron founder Justin Sun.
Sun secured his seat aboard the New Shepard capsule back in 2021, paying $28 million for the opportunity to go to space. Blue Origin reportedly distributed the majority of those funds to 19 space-focused charities, each receiving $1 million to promote STEAM education and innovation.
Four years later, Justin Sun will finally join five other space tourists on the New Shepard-34 mission.
“Meet the New Shepard NS-34 crew: Arvy Bahal, Gökhan Erdem, Deborah Martorell, Lionel Pitchford, J.D. Russell, and His Excellency Justin Sun,” Blue Origin posted on X.
Justin Sun will share the capsule with:
- Arvy Bahal, a real estate investor and world traveler
- Gökhan Erdem, head of Turkey’s Erdem Holding
- Deborah Martorell, a meteorologist and journalist from Puerto Rico
- Lionel Pitchford, a teacher and translator from the UK
- James “J.D.” Russell, a serial entrepreneur and head of Alpha Funds, who previously flew aboard NS-28 in 2024
This will be Blue Origin’s 34th New Shepard mission and the 14th with crew aboard.
Although the tourists will not orbit the Earth, the rocket will take them over 100 kilometers above sea level on a suborbital trajectory, which qualifies them as having gone to space.
So far, Blue Origin has flown 70 people into space this way. The exact date of the NS-34 mission has not yet been announced, but Blue Origin says it will reveal it soon.
