Highlights

  • Rocket Pool governance approved rETH withdrawals without altering the 4 ETH bond for node operators, representing a structural change.
  • Decoupling rETH holder liquidity from node operator capital structure is designed to enable easier rETH withdrawals and may shift supply and redemption patterns.
  • RPL/USD trades below key moving averages under continued selling pressure, with the price projected to range between $1.5283 to $1.6737 and momentum indicators mainly bearish.

rETH withdrawal flexibility alters liquidity flows amid persistent selling

Rocket Pool governance approved a proposal to enable rETH withdrawals while keeping the 4 ETH bond requirement intact for node operators, a key structural shift reported by Finwire. The separation of rETH holder liquidity from node operator capital structure is expected to facilitate smoother withdrawals for rETH holders by decoupling individual liquidity needs from node backing, which could influence supply and redemption behavior on the platform. While enhancing flexibility for rETH stakeholders, these changes maintain the existing collateral requirements for node operators, though price action has remained under broader selling pressure.

Downside momentum prevails as technical signals diverge at resistance

On the technical side, RPL/USD has fallen below the hourly MA-20 at $1.6499 and MA-50 at $1.7092, alongside the daily MA-200 at $1.698. The Ichimoku Kijun on the daily chart stands at $1.6605, currently acting as immediate resistance. Momentum studies show MACD and ADX signaling 'Sell', with RSI at 30.22 indicating oversold conditions. Both CCI and Bull/Bear Power also point to sellers dominating intraday momentum, while the Awesome Oscillator remains aligned with the prevailing downtrend. The sole divergence in signals comes from the Stoch RSI, which flashes a 'Buy', highlighting uncertainty in the short-term outlook.

Limited upside seen as volatility bands favor bearish continuation

Looking ahead 2–3 trading days, RPL/USD is expected to oscillate between $1.5283 and $1.6737, reflecting a typical volatility band relative to current levels. The probability of an upward move is limited at 22%, with downside scenarios considered significantly more likely in the near term. The base case forecasts sideways movement within this range; a clear bullish momentum would require a decisive breakout above the $1.6605 resistance, while a drop below $1.5283 would open room for further declines.

Anton Kharitonov, analyst at Traders Union, notes the technical backdrop for RPL remains negative, with the token trading below all key moving averages and clear downtrend signals from momentum studies. He views the recently approved governance change as positive for Rocket Pool’s ecosystem but does not see any immediate relief for price action. Kharitonov remains cautious given the oversold readings and lack of bullish confirmation above $1.6605. "Until RPL recovers above key resistances, I see no strong reason to expect a reversal in this downtrend."

Previously it was reported that Rocket Pool faced heightened downside risks as bearish technical momentum took hold. The latest developments, including governance changes enabling rETH withdrawals, occur against a backdrop of ongoing selling pressure, with traders advised to monitor the $1.5283 support level for signs of further downside.
