BingX EU secures MiCAR license as it prepares to enter European crypto markets
BingX EU gains MiCAR approval for EEA expansion

BingX EU, the European subsidiary of global cryptocurrency trading platform BingX, has secured regulatory authorization in Austria as part of its expansion into European markets. The approval gives the company a route to offer regulated digital asset services across the European Economic Area, although its wider rollout remains subject to additional procedures.

Highlights

  • Austria grants BingX EU a MiCAR license for crypto services.
  • BingX EU prepares to launch regulated services across Europe.
  • Expansion into 29 EEA markets requires passporting.

The license was granted by Austria's Financial Market Authority (FMA) to MEGE zweite GmbH, the Vienna-based legal entity operating as BingX EU. The company plans to reach 29 EEA countries through the European regulatory passporting system, according to a company press release.

BingX establishes a regulated European subsidiary

BingX EU operates as the European subsidiary of BingX, the global cryptocurrency trading platform founded in 2018. The Austrian authorization applies specifically to MEGE zweite GmbH rather than automatically extending to every entity or service operating under the broader BingX brand.

The distinction establishes how BingX intends to develop its European business. Instead of relying solely on its international platform, the company is building a separately regulated operation designed to meet European requirements.

The authorization was issued under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, known as MiCA or MiCAR. The framework establishes common standards for cryptocurrency service providers, including governance, operational controls, transparency, and customer protection.

BingX EU's authorized activities include cryptocurrency custody, exchanges between digital assets and conventional currencies, crypto-to-crypto exchanges and transfers of digital assets on behalf of clients.

European expansion depends on passporting

Under MiCAR, an authorized provider can extend eligible services into other EEA jurisdictions through regulatory notification procedures. This creates a common route for cross-border operations while maintaining supervision under European rules.

BingX EU intends to use that mechanism to expand into 29 markets. However, the company has not announced a firm timetable for its broader launch or specified when customers in individual countries will gain access.

The European entity will continue coordinating with Austria's FMA and other relevant regulators as it prepares to introduce its services.

The authorization also does not mean that every product offered by the global BingX platform will necessarily become available through BingX EU. European customers will need to distinguish between the regulated subsidiary and other entities within the wider business.

Licensing gives BingX a European growth platform

For BingX, the Austrian approval establishes a regulatory foundation for expanding its international business within Europe. The global platform reports serving more than 40 million users, but its European subsidiary will operate under a distinct legal and supervisory framework.

The commercial significance will depend on completing passporting requirements, launching services, and attracting customers in a competitive market.

The license provides a route into the EEA, not an immediate guarantee of market access across all 29 countries. It also does not remove the investment risks associated with cryptocurrencies.
