Tokenized stocks extend trading beyond Wall Street hours as onchain volumes rise
Around-the-clock access is becoming a defining feature of tokenized equities as more trading activity shifts outside the standard U.S. stock market session. The trend is emerging alongside rising onchain stock values and regulatory moves that begin to accommodate blockchain-based trading venues.
Highlights
- Over 70% of tokenized stock trading volume on BNB Chain, 63% on Solana, and nearly 60% on Base now occurs outside standard Wall Street trading hours.
- Tokenized asset trading volumes rose 50% month-over-month according to Jupiter, with the total value of tokenized stocks climbing 15% to nearly $3.3 billion in the last 30 days per RWA.xyz.
- Strive acquired 3,311 BTC at an average $84,500 per coin, raising its total to 32,773 BTC and $208 million in new proceeds, making it the fifth-largest public corporate holder.
After-hours trading gains traction on public blockchains
As reported by Cointelegraph, citing The Kobeissi Letter and Blockworks data, more than 70% of tokenized stock trading volume on BNB Chain now occurs outside the traditional 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern market window. The share is 63% on Solana and nearly 60% on Base, indicating that extended trading access is becoming a key draw for investors using blockchain-based equity products.Trading activity is also increasing. Jupiter reports a 50% month-over-month rise in tokenized asset trading volume, while RWA.xyz data shows the value of tokenized stocks climbing 15% over the past 30 days to nearly $3.3 billion.
Tokenized equities let investors trade U.S. stocks across time zones without waiting for Wall Street to open, potentially changing how liquidity is spread through the day. Even so, platforms such as xStocks and Ondo Global Markets remain largely unavailable to U.S. investors, limiting domestic access as the market expands.
The backdrop is also shifting at the regulatory level. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's innovation exemption opens the door for qualifying platforms to trade tokenized U.S.-listed stocks on public blockchains, subject to disclosure and shareholder protection requirements.
Broader crypto finance trends shape corporate adoption
Elsewhere in digital asset markets, Bitcoin treasury company Strive says in a Tuesday filing with the SEC that it purchased 3,311 BTC during the week ending Oct. 9 at an average price of about $84,500 per coin. The acquisition lifts its holdings to 32,773 BTC, making it the fifth-largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder, while warrant exercises bring in $208 million to support the expansion.Bitcoin miners moving into artificial intelligence and high-performance computing are also facing rising financing pressure. BlocksBridge Consulting's Miner Weekly says miners need billions of dollars for facilities, equipment and power infrastructure, with borrowing terms increasingly tied to customer quality and the probability that projects are completed.
A separate accounting proposal could support stablecoin use in corporate treasuries. Tempo says a Financial Accounting Standards Board proposal would allow qualifying stablecoins to be treated as cash equivalents on company balance sheets if companies hold direct redemption rights with issuers, a change that could affect liquidity reporting and loan covenant treatment.
The proposal remains open for public comment until Nov. 19, after which FASB plans to review feedback before deciding final rules and an effective date. Coinbase already classifies USDC and other payment stablecoins as cash equivalents in its 2025 annual report, supported by its redemption arrangement with Circle.
Our earlier article on the Philippine Social Security System’s equity portfolio explained how the state pension fund defended its strategy by distinguishing unrealized paper losses from realized gains and dividend income. SSS said its long-term, diversified approach has generated substantial realized returns over decades and that temporary mark-to-market declines only become cash losses if positions are sold below cost.
