Janus Henderson launches Nasdaq-100 tokenized fund on Stellar
Tokenized Nasdaq fund debuts

Wall Street's push to bring traditional assets onto blockchain infrastructure is expanding into equity-linked products with Janus Henderson's latest fund launch. The new vehicle tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index and lifts the asset manager's onchain investment platform to more than $1 billion across Treasuries, structured credit and equities.

Highlights

  • Janus Henderson and Centrifuge launched JQQQ, an issuer-sponsored onchain fund tracking the Nasdaq-100 Index on the Stellar blockchain.
  • Janus Henderson's onchain investment platform now exceeds $1 billion in assets across Treasuries, structured credit and equities.
  • The issuer-sponsored structure of JQQQ distinguishes it from third-party stock tokens, emphasizing asset manager control amid industry debates over tokenized securities.

Issuer-sponsored fund expands tokenized equity offerings

As reported by CoinDesk, Janus Henderson and Centrifuge launched JQQQ, an issuer-sponsored onchain fund on the Stellar blockchain that tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index. Janus Henderson issues and manages the fund, Centrifuge provides the blockchain infrastructure and Nasdaq licenses the index used for the product.

Janus Henderson, a London-based asset manager overseeing roughly $500 billion, is positioning the launch as an extension of its tokenized investment lineup. The companies said Tuesday that JQQQ follows the Janus Henderson Anemoy S&P 500 Fund, or SPXA, introduced last year as a tokenized index fund licensed by S&P Dow Jones Indices.

Janus Henderson said its onchain investment platform now includes more than $1 billion in assets spanning Treasuries, structured credit and equities.

Tokenization debate sharpens across market structure

The new fund highlights a growing split in tokenization models as financial firms test blockchain-based versions of traditional investments. Unlike third-party stock tokens created without direct issuer involvement, JQQQ uses an issuer-sponsored structure in which the asset manager remains central to issuance and oversight.

The distinction is becoming more important as the industry debates who should control tokenized representations of securities. Most recently, 22 companies objected to plans for blockchain-based trading of their shares on the OKX-ICE venue, adding to questions over whether issuers should have a say when their stocks are tokenized.

"As investors explore new ways to access markets through digital infrastructure, demand continues to grow for exposure to established, transparent benchmarks," said Sean Wasserman, head of index product management at Nasdaq.

In our earlier Nasdaq 100 (NDX) outlook, we tracked the index rebounding and then consolidating near key technical levels as traders positioned ahead of major earnings and potential Federal Reserve decisions. The piece highlighted mixed momentum signals and a likely near-term trading range, with particular attention on support around 28,991 and resistance near 29,632 as potential triggers for the next directional move.
