Injective drops about 9.5% after Community BuyBack and permanent INJ token burn
Injective drops 9.53% today to $7.37

Injective (INJ) slumped 9.53% after selling pressure intensified, even as the network completed a Community BuyBack and permanently burned a significant amount of tokens. The decline is reinforced by the pair's position below both its 20-day and 50-day moving averages, highlighting prevailing short- and medium-term weakness.

Highlights

  • Injective enabled fully collateralized onchain options for real-world assets using USDC-backed infrastructure across more than 20 blockchains.
  • The network permanently burned nearly 7.3 million INJ tokens through community programs, and distributed tokenized stocks like Nvidia and Tesla via its Stockdrop initiative.
  • INJ/USD trades below short-term averages, ending at $7.37 with a projected 5-day range of $6.64 to $7.82 and a high probability of sideways to upward movement.

Product expansion and token burns persist amid ongoing price weakness

Injective introduced a new onchain options product allowing fully collateralized trading of options linked to real-world assets as part of its broader synthetic asset initiative, with USDC-backed infrastructure spanning over 20 blockchains. The network recently completed a Community BuyBack round in which a significant amount of INJ tokens were permanently burned, and ecosystem revenue and tokenized stocks were distributed via its Stockdrop initiative. Participants have claimed tokenized equities such as Nvidia and Tesla, and the total INJ burned through community programs is nearing 7.3 million tokens. Canary also filed an amended proposal for a staked Injective ETF, indicating ongoing regulatory activity, though price action has remained under broader selling pressure.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, views the recent 9.53% slump in INJ as a clear sign of persistent market weakness. He notes that the failure to hold above both the 20-day and 50-day moving averages underscores shaky short- and medium-term momentum, especially after the token burn failed to stabilize price action. Kharitonov is unimpressed by the new product launches, contending that continued selling pressure and only neutral technical signals leave little reason for optimism. He stresses that risks remain elevated, especially if $6.64 support gives way. "Despite attempts at rebranding and supply contraction, I see little evidence of robust buyer interest — caution is warranted until a convincing reversal emerges."
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, believes Injective's long-term structure still reflects significant opportunity. He highlights strong ecosystem fundamentals, such as the onchain options rollout and aggressive token burns, which are accelerating platform adoption. Karapetjanc points to the staked ETF proposal and solid distribution of tokenized equities as fuel for ongoing narrative strength. He remains constructive on the price outlook, seeing limited downside and multiple bullish setups. "With sustained development and a growing user base, I expect INJ to reclaim momentum and push above $7.82 in the coming sessions."
Parshwa Turakhiya, analyst, notes that INJ has rebounded from intraday lows but short-term sentiment remains highly reactive to volatility. He sees a technical setup where buyers have shown intermittent strength, as indicated by the bullish Stochastic RSI and positive BBP, yet price remains vulnerable below immediate resistance at $7.82. Turakhiya believes current market action favors nimble trades within a well-defined range, especially as momentum signals are mixed and news-driven flows could trigger sharp moves either way. "Traders should look for quick plays between support and resistance, adapting swiftly to sentiment shifts in the next few days."

Short-term downside holds as momentum signals diverge from price action

INJ/USD trades below its 20-day and 50-day moving averages at $8.08 and $7.49, but remains above its 200-day at $5.44, signaling short- and medium-term weakness in contrast with a still bullish long-term backdrop. Recent price action puts the pair near immediate support at $7.43, with further downside limited by the near-term floor at $6.64. The Ichimoku Kijun at $7.92 and the bullish alignment of the 50-day versus 200-day moving average confirm the prevailing positive long-term trend. Momentum signals are mostly bullish, with the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) giving a strong buy outlook, while the Average Directional Index (ADX) remains neutral and suggests limited trend strength. Oversold conditions are absent, as both the Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 53.12 and the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) at -11.6 provide neutral or weak buy signals, and the Stochastic RSI indicates strong buy potential. Bull/Bear Power (BBP) at 0.09 confirms intraday dominance by buyers, and this is reinforced by the strong buy bias on the Stochastic RSI forecast. The pair is down at $7.37, losing 9.53% today after opening with a small upside gap of about 0.12%, and sits near the daily low after a volatile session with intraday amplitude of 9.04%. Weakness dominates after the open, diverging from the broader momentum indicators.

Earlier, analysts noted that Injective's outlook was likely to remain highly reactive to shifts in technical and regulatory conditions following a period of pronounced selling pressure. The current analysis highlights continued short- and medium-term weakness despite robust ecosystem developments, with traders advised to monitor whether support near $6.64 can withstand further downside volatility this week.
