Leadership transition and filing details

According to CoinDesk, as reported in a Thursday filing by Strategy, Andrew Kang resigned as chief financial officer and is set to step down on Nov. 5 after informing the company on Oct. 26 that he planned to leave for personal reasons. The company says the decision is not the result of any disagreement related to its operations, policies or practices, and Kang will remain in an advisory role through Dec. 31.

Reza Virasteh, currently executive vice president of operations, is due to replace Kang on Jan. 1. He is set to serve as co-principal financial officer alongside President and CEO Phong Le, who will oversee the finance organization during the transition.

Finance responsibilities are being split during the handover period. Le retains oversight of bitcoin strategy, capital markets, treasury and investor relations, while Virasteh is set to manage the finances and budget of Strategy's software operations.

Capital raising, bitcoin holdings and market reaction

Alongside the management change, the company reports about $21 billion in third-quarter operating income, its largest quarterly operating result. Strategy also says it has raised $21 billion in capital year to date and held 848,517 bitcoin as of Oct. 25, up 26% since the start of the year.

Investors reacted negatively before the market open on Friday. MSTR common shares fell 6.4% in pre-market trading, while Strategy's STRC preferred stock was flat at $99.45.
