World Mobile to launch blockchain stratosphere platform with Protelindo
Telecommunications blockchain company World Mobile has announced a partnership with Protelindo, Indonesia’s largest digital infrastructure provider, to launch a stratospheric platform aimed at expanding global connectivity.
Protelindo, whose telecom towers and fiber infrastructure span the Indonesian archipelago, will leverage World Mobile’s technology to connect remote regions, significantly improving access to communication.
The project, called World Mobile Stratospheric, uses high-altitude, hydrogen-powered airships — stratospheric balloons capable of ascending 15–20 km — to provide direct mobile phone connectivity via blockchain infrastructure.
Field tests in the UK, Europe, and the Middle East demonstrated the airship’s capacity to support up to 500,000 simultaneous mobile connections.
The platform promises higher bandwidth, lower latency, and a significant reduction in operational and environmental costs, claiming up to 99% less environmental impact compared to traditional telecom solutions.

At the core of the project is World Mobile’s token, WMTX, which according to CoinMarketCap, ranks in the 400s by market cap and is currently trading at $0.15.
Blockchain connectivity for hard-to-reach regions
While skepticism about blockchain remains in traditional telecom sectors, World Mobile positions itself as a viable alternative and complementary player — especially in markets like the US, where access to connectivity remains uneven.
“By combining cutting-edge aerospace technology with token-based economics, we’re building a network that connects more people, faster, and in a cost-effective, environmentally sustainable way,” said World Mobile CEO Micky Watkins.
The airship’s stratospheric range and payload also make it suitable for non-telecom applications, potentially laying the groundwork for broader blockchain infrastructure use in stratospheric operations.
