Trump-backed WLFI expands USD1 stablecoin supply to $2.4B
World Liberty Financial (WLFI), backed by Donald Trump, issued an additional $205 million in USD1, raising the stablecoin’s total supply to $2.4 billion.
The announcement came alongside a supportive speech by Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller at a blockchain conference in Wyoming and Coinbase’s plans to list USD1.
Since its April launch, the WLFI-issued USD1 has attracted major investors. TRON founder Justin Sun first invested $30 million, followed by Abu Dhabi’s MGX, which boosted issuance by $2 billion, paying for its Binance investment in USD1. These large inflows helped USD1 grow faster than nearly any other stablecoin, reaching seventh place in sector market capitalization.
Advancing as planned
After Christopher Waller praised the role of dollar-backed digital assets in Wyoming, WLFI announced an additional $205 million issuance of USD1. At the same time, Coinbase added USD1 to its roadmap, signaling a potential full listing. This move expanded USD1’s supply to $2.4 billion, pushing it into sixth place among stablecoins by market cap.
While Coinbase has yet to confirm a launch date, the exchange noted that final listing depends on sufficient liquidity and technical readiness. Eric Trump, part of the World Liberty Financial leadership team, hinted at an upcoming listing, promising more news “very soon.”
Currently, WLFI is actively promoting USD1 through user incentives. Earlier this year, the company conducted an airdrop to early supporters and later introduced a rewards program for holding, trading, and staking the stablecoin. According to CoinJournal, the next step is to extend rewards to DeFi protocols and a mobile app, creating a loyalty system uncommon in the stablecoin market. These efforts could accelerate USD1’s path to mainstream adoption and institutional use.
