Highlights

  • USD/THB shows near-term strength above short-term moving averages but faces medium-term resistance limiting further gains.
  • Momentum indicators remain mixed with underlying bearish undertones and sellers maintaining control over intraday action.
  • Price is forecast to consolidate in the ฿32.9327 to ฿33.2637 range over the next five sessions with a 68% probability of a downward move.
Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees USD/THB advancing but warns that technical momentum looks fragile. He notes price is constrained under the MA-50 at ฿33.2125 with mixed signals from key indicators and sellers dominating short-term flows. He highlights the lack of news as a weakness for sustained directional moves. The divergence between price and underlying momentum signals potential for reversal. "Traders should not ignore the bearish undertones — any failure to break above ฿33.2125 could trigger a quick pullback," Kharitonov states.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, highlights the constructive technical base with USD/THB holding above both the MA-20 and MA-200. He emphasizes that a bullish structure remains intact as long as prices consolidate near current highs. While immediate resistance caps the upside, further growth is attainable on a breakout above ฿33.2125. "The market offers multiple setups for opportunistic bulls — a sustained lift above the ceiling can unlock the forecast high at ฿33.2637," he says.
Jainam Mehta, market strategist, observes mixed technical signals and notes current price action is not strongly supported by momentum. He sees consolidation as the baseline, but spots tactical potential in the divergence between indicator trends and price. "Traders may watch for a contrarian short if price loses support at ฿33.0398, given weak momentum despite session highs," Mehta suggests.

Resistance persists as weak momentum clashes with price strength

USD/THB trades above both the MA-20 at ฿32.9459 and the MA-200 at ฿32.5429, but remains below the MA-50 at ฿33.2125, indicating short-term strength but ongoing medium-term resistance. With a bullish long-term alignment (MA-50 above MA-200), the near-term ceiling stands at ฿33.2125 and immediate support is marked at ฿33.0398, with the Ichimoku Kijun at ฿32.9886 acting as additional support. Momentum indicators paint a mixed picture: Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and Relative Strength Index (RSI) suggest bearish undertones, with the latter favoring a sell signal. Average Directional Index (ADX), Stochastic RSI, and Commodity Channel Index (CCI) are neutral, while Bull/Bear Power (BBP) remains slightly negative, signaling sellers are dominating intraday momentum. The Awesome Oscillator also points to persistent seller control. The pair is up ฿0.1682 or 0.51% on the day after opening nearly flat, with the current price near the intraday high and volatility at 0.44%. Strength toward session highs contrasts with weak underlying momentum, highlighting divergence between price action and indicators.

Earlier, analysts noted that USD/THB was under short- and medium-term selling pressure, with mixed momentum complicating the outlook. The current rebound confirms underlying volatility, making the near-term ceiling at ฿33.2125 a crucial level for traders monitoring for a potential breakout or renewed consolidation.
