Highlights

  • Concerns about France's fiscal outlook have increased risk aversion in the eurozone, weakening the euro against regional currencies.
  • Spain's announcement of a snap election has raised political uncertainty and contributed to broader selling of the euro.
  • EUR/HUF trades below key moving averages with strong oversold signals and is expected to remain in the Ft363.465 to Ft367.117 range with a high probability of further downside.

Euro pressured as French fiscal fears and Spanish election stoke caution

Heightened concerns about France's fiscal outlook and a parallel bond-market selloff have led to increased risk aversion within the eurozone, undermining confidence in the euro and contributing to broader selling pressure for the currency relative to regional peers. Added to this, Spain's announcement of a snap election has intensified political uncertainty, further driving investor caution across European foreign exchange markets. These developments, according to Theguardian, have combined to pressure the euro and weigh on the EUR/HUF cross.

Sustained sell signal as downside momentum breaches major averages

On the H1 chart, EUR/HUF trades below both the MA-20 and MA-50, while on the daily timeframe, it remains beneath the MA-200. Immediate resistance is defined by the Ichimoku Kijun at Ft367.73. Momentum indicators reinforce downside risk: MACD and ADX both signal prevailing selling force, and RSI is steeply oversold at 26.7. Stoch RSI and CCI confirm the oversold bias, and Bull/Bear Power remains deeply negative, reflecting sustained intraday seller control. The Awesome Oscillator provides a neutral reading, indicating neither a counter-trend nor trend confirmation at this time.

Downside favored as volatility caps recovery prospects

Over the next two to three trading days, EUR/HUF is expected to consolidate within a volatility band between Ft363.465 and Ft367.117. The probability of a sustained upside move remains very low, while continued downside extension carries a high likelihood. Should Ft363.465 support be breached, further declines are likely, whereas any attempt to regain momentum on the upside would require reclaiming resistance at Ft367.73.

Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees the euro currently on the defensive against the forint due to negative macro sentiment and mounting eurozone risk. He notes that persistent political and fiscal concerns in France and Spain continue to weigh on EUR/HUF, with technicals supporting the downside. Karapetjanc believes a recovery will require a clear improvement in sentiment and a break above key resistance. "As long as regional risk remains elevated and Ft367.73 caps the upside, I expect sellers to stay in control over the short term."

Earlier, analysts noted that EUR/HUF was exhibiting a neutral to slightly positive technical bias, with consolidation around longer-term support. The current escalation in political and fiscal risk within the eurozone adds downside pressure, making a break below support at Ft363.465 the key risk for traders to monitor in the near term.
