Gold prices ease as firm U.S. dollar, inflation focus weigh on market

Highlights
- Spot gold falls 0.2% to $4,164.45 per ounce and December futures drop 0.1% to $4,187.90 as the strong U.S. dollar persists.
- Markets see a 21% probability of a Fed rate hike in October and 88% in December, with CPI and PPI data this week potentially decisive for gold direction.
- Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack urges faster policy tightening to combat broadening inflation, adding pressure as silver slips 0.5% to $60.01, platinum declines 0.2% to $1,682.47, and palladium falls 0.5% to $1,137.69.
