  • Improved liquidity and reduced volatility following central bank actions underpin sustained institutional interest in pairs like USD/SGD.

Rupee stabilization by RBI boosts regional FX confidence

The Reserve Bank of India's intervention in the foreign exchange market has played a key role in supporting the Indian rupee and stabilizing sentiment across Asian currency pairs. This action has improved liquidity conditions and mitigated volatility in the region's FX markets, which in turn supports broader confidence in pairs like USD/SGD. Robust institutional involvement such as this often provides a firmer foundation for continued interest in regional currencies.

Overbought signals emerge as technical momentum stays strong

On the hourly chart, USD/SGD is trading above the MA-20 at S$1.2859 and MA-50 at S$1.2845, while also maintaining strength above the MA-200 at S$1.2813 on the daily timeframe. The Ichimoku Kijun acts as immediate support at S$1.2869. Momentum indicators, including MACD and ADX, generate buy signals, and Bull/Bear Power points to buyer dominance, while the Awesome Oscillator remains aligned with the prevailing uptrend. However, RSI at 78.48, as well as Stoch RSI and CCI, all signal overbought intraday conditions, urging minor near-term caution despite otherwise firm technical momentum.

Bullish bias dominates as price consolidates within volatility band

In the short term, the expected price range for USD/SGD is S$1.2846 to S$1.2976, reflecting a volatility band relative to current levels. The probability favors continued upside with a low chance of downside reversal. Baseline expectations lean toward consolidation within this corridor, with bullish continuation if resistance is overcome and a possible retracement should support at S$1.2869 fail.

Anton Kharitonov, analyst at Traders Union, sees the Reserve Bank of India’s market intervention as a key source of liquidity and sentiment support for Asian currencies, including USD/SGD. He notes persistent technical strength and robust institutional involvement but remains cautious given overbought signals on multiple momentum indicators. For Kharitonov, the main risk lies in a loss of short-term support at S$1.2869. "Unless S$1.2869 fails, I expect USD/SGD to consolidate with a cautious bullish tilt, but upside may be limited by intraday overextension."

Earlier, analysts noted that sustained selling pressure dominated USD/SGD driving a persistent bearish outlook. The current shift to bullish technical signals alongside regional FX stabilization highlights a notable change in sentiment, positioning S$1.2869 as an important support level for traders monitoring potential uptrend continuation.
