Polymarket tops $1 billion in annualized revenue as U.S. exchange gains traction
Polymarket is accelerating growth as sports-driven trading activity lifts demand across its regulated U.S. exchange and international prediction market platform. The company says annualized revenue is now well above $1 billion, with FIFA World Cup trading and the recent end of its U.S. app waitlist driving momentum.
Highlights
- Polymarket's annualized revenue now exceeds $1 billion, driven by increased U.S. access and surging trading during the FIFA World Cup.
- Polymarket U.S. daily volume jumped from about $50 million in mid-May to over $200 million as of June 20, per Dune Analytics data.
- After CFTC and DOJ dropped investigations in July, Polymarket U.S. operates as a regulated exchange, supporting accelerated domestic expansion.
Revenue growth tied to U.S. access and World Cup volumes
As first reported by CNBC, Polymarket says its annualized revenue is now well north of $1 billion, six weeks after it removed the waitlist for access to its U.S. exchange. The disclosure comes as trading activity rises sharply across prediction markets during the FIFA World Cup.Data from Dune Analytics show volume on Polymarket's U.S. platform has climbed from about $50 million a day in mid-May to more than $200 million on June 20. On the company's international platform, weekly trading volume has reached all-time highs after slowing in April and May.
Regulatory reset supports domestic expansion
Polymarket launched its U.S. exchange in December, separate from its international decentralized finance platform. The domestic operation follows the company's earlier 2022 prohibition from operating in the country over registration issues with regulators. In July, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Department of Justice dropped their investigations into the company without charges, and Polymarket U.S. now operates as a CFTC-regulated exchange. The U.S. platform remained on a waitlist from December until six weeks ago for mobile app users, while a desktop version is still unavailable and users are directed to download the app through a QR code on the company's website.
A company spokesperson tells CNBC that Polymarket is focused on applying lessons from its global platform to the U.S. market, with emphasis on intuitive market design, institutional-grade liquidity and a consumer experience aimed at setting a benchmark for the category.
Our earlier report on the prediction market boom explained how a softer U.S. regulatory stance has fueled rapid growth for platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket, pushing valuations and trading volumes sharply higher. It also highlighted how the CFTC eased pressure after the 2024 election cycle, while legal scrutiny increasingly shifted toward state-level lawsuits tied to sports-related contracts.
