Sector profile and Vermont event footprint

This year marks the 26th year that AM Best sponsors the VCIA conference, which features seminars on captive insurance trends and networking opportunities for industry participants. The conference is taking place at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Burlington, Vermont, with AM Best representatives from Ratings and Information Services exhibiting at booth No. 32 in the DoubleTree Exhibition Hall.

AM Best says it remains the leading rating agency for alternative risk transfer entities, with more than 200 such vehicles rated across the U.S. and globally. The company, which specializes in the insurance industry as a credit rating agency, news publisher and data analytics provider, is headquartered in the United States and operates in more than 100 countries.

In our earlier coverage of AM Best’s affirmation of National Guaranty Insurance Company of Vermont’s credit ratings, we noted that the parent-backed captive model continues to support Waste Management’s financial assurance needs. The report highlighted strong underwriting profitability, rising net investment income, and expectations for continued solid operating results supported by a very strong balance sheet and developed risk management framework.
