Tesla stock jumps 5% as deliveries top estimates and bullish momentum builds
Elon Musk has reportedly refocused his attention on Tesla after reducing his involvement in other ventures

As of July 3, Tesla stock is trading at $315.65, up 5 percent in the last 24 hours.

The surge comes on the back of better-than-expected second-quarter delivery numbers and renewed investor confidence in CEO Elon Musk’s commitment to the company.

Highlights

- Tesla rose 5% to $315.65 following stronger-than-expected Q2 deliveries and renewed focus from CEO Elon Musk.

- Technicals show a bullish trend with immediate resistance at $365 and key support at $285.

- Market sentiment remains positive, but high valuation and policy risks could limit upside.

Tesla shares have rebounded over 40 percent from their April 2025 low of $221.86, establishing a clear bullish trend. This recovery has been supported by strong price action and technical indicators pointing to sustained upward momentum. Notably, the 50-day moving average has crossed above the 200-day moving average—a golden cross formation that typically signals a longer-term uptrend.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has moved above 65, which suggests strong momentum but also places the stock near overbought territory. This does not necessarily signal a reversal, but traders should watch for any divergence or slowdown in price action that may indicate a short-term pullback. The immediate resistance lies at $365, a level tested multiple times between November 2024 and May 2025. A successful break above this zone would likely trigger a run toward the next major resistance at $430, which represents the January peak.

Support levels to watch include $285, marking the lower boundary of the recent bullish flag formation, and $225, which was a critical support level during the March–April selloff. Maintaining support above $285 is essential to preserve the bullish structure. If this level fails, the outlook could turn neutral with a risk of deeper consolidation.

Strong deliveries and Musk’s focus drive investor optimism

The primary catalyst behind Tesla’s current rally is its stronger-than-expected Q2 delivery performance. While total deliveries were lower year over year, they came in above Wall Street estimates, easing concerns about waning demand in the electric vehicle (EV) market. Analysts had been particularly concerned about Tesla’s market share erosion in China and price competition from domestic rivals. However, the Q2 numbers suggest that Tesla is managing to retain its position even amid a challenging pricing environment.

Further boosting sentiment, Elon Musk has reportedly refocused his attention on Tesla after reducing his involvement in other ventures, such as government advisory roles. This move was seen positively by investors who have been critical of Musk’s divided focus over the past year. Market watchers are also optimistic about upcoming product rollouts, particularly Tesla’s robotaxi initiative set to launch in Austin, Texas. If successful, this could introduce a new revenue stream and justify the company’s lofty valuation.

Nevertheless, risks remain. Tesla’s forward price-to-earnings ratio stands near 170, far above historical norms for the auto industry and even for most tech firms. Additionally, potential policy changes under a new U.S. administration, including the removal of federal EV tax credits, could weigh on consumer demand and margins. These macro risks underscore the importance of maintaining delivery growth and technological leadership.

TSLA to challenge $365 with upside potential to $430

With the current technical setup and renewed investor enthusiasm, Tesla is positioned to challenge the $365 resistance level in the near term. A sustained break above this mark would likely open the door to $430, particularly if Q3 guidance and macro conditions remain favorable. This bullish scenario is supported by both volume and momentum indicators.

Conversely, any failure to hold above the $285 support could prompt a corrective move toward $225. Given the current momentum, however, the probability of a move toward $365 appears higher than a significant downside break. Short-term traders should remain focused on these key levels, while long-term investors may view the current pullback from highs as a consolidation phase within a broader uptrend.

Earlier this week, Tesla faced renewed pressure as a public feud between Elon Musk and President Donald Trump rattled investor confidence. Musk’s criticism of Trump’s legislative agenda sparked threats to revoke federal support, raising concerns about the company’s future access to EV tax credits and infrastructure funding.
