Tokenized equities market surges as on-chain stock trading gains traction
Tokenized stocks surge

Growing retail demand for around-the-clock access to equity exposure is pushing tokenized stocks further into the crypto mainstream. The segment is expanding quickly as exchanges and asset platforms build new channels for U.S. shares to trade on blockchain infrastructure.

Highlights

  • On-chain stocks surge from $639 million to $3.17 billion year over year, while tokenized real-world assets reach nearly $487 million by March 2026.
  • Tokenized trading volume hits a record $15.6 billion in September, up 16% month-over-month, with Binance averaging $143 million daily and over $1 billion in turnover post-launch.
  • SpaceX tokenized shares list at $135 on June 11, soar to $225.64 by June 16, then drop to $124, demonstrating tokenized stocks' volatility mirrors underlying shares.

Growth in tokenized stock trading

As reported by Weiss Ratings, tokenized real-world assets more than triple year over year between 2025 and 2026, reaching nearly $487 million by the end of March 2026, while on-chain stocks rise from $639 million to $3.17 billion over the past year.

Tokenized equities are digital tokens that track traditional shares on a 1:1 basis, with the underlying stock held in custody by a regulated broker. Instead of clearing through conventional market infrastructure, these assets settle on crypto networks that operate continuously, giving investors access to trading outside normal market hours.

The report says trading activity is also accelerating. In September alone, tokenized trading volume reaches a record $15.6 billion, up 16% from the previous month. Binance expands access earlier this summer in two steps, first launching trading in real U.S. shares through a regulated broker-dealer partner on June 1, then adding tokenized "bStocks" on June 11, a rollout that averages about $143 million in daily volume over its first nine days and exceeds $1 billion in turnover.

Market demand and investor risks

The surge in interest becomes especially visible around SpaceX's June listing, when crypto exchanges rush to offer users tokenized exposure to the stock. Demand proves strong, but limited share allocations leave some buyers empty-handed, underlining that tokenization broadens access to stock exposure without changing priority when real share supply is tight.

SpaceX prices at $135 a share on June 11, opens on June 12 and closes its first day around $161, after raising about $75 billion at an implied valuation near $1.77 trillion. The stock later shows sharp volatility, hitting an all-time high of $225.64 on June 16 before falling to around $124, roughly 44% below that peak, illustrating that tokenized products mirror the same swings as their underlying shares.

Weiss Ratings argues the bigger takeaway is not a single high-profile listing but the emergence of a new distribution channel for stock exposure. For cautious investors, conventional brokerage accounts and ETFs still offer the lower-risk route, while tokenized equities provide similar exposure with longer trading hours and less mature market structure.

In our earlier coverage of Weiss Ratings’ Safe Money Report, we explained how the publication is geared toward retirement-focused investors seeking capital preservation alongside dependable income. We noted that its approach emphasizes lower-risk, income-oriented assets—such as dividend stocks, Treasuries, commodities, and alternative income ideas—selected with an added focus on financial strength and safety ratings.
