Rating rationale and balance sheet profile

As reported by Kroll Bond Rating Agency, the BBB rating on Franklin BSP Capital Corporation's 7.25% senior unsecured notes due 2029 reflects support from its affiliation with Franklin Templeton and ties to Benefit Street Partners, a credit platform with $93 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026. KBRA says those connections add scale in private credit, including through a $25.5 billion direct lending platform with SEC exemptive relief for co-investment among BSP affiliates.

KBRA also points to FBCC's $4.1 billion investment portfolio across 151 companies. As of June 30, 2026, the portfolio is weighted toward first lien senior secured loans to middle market companies, with exposure spanning 35 industries excluding joint venture investments, while Health Care Providers & Services, Professional Services, and Software are the largest sectors outside joint ventures and asset-based finance.

The agency says FBCC's funding profile remains diversified, supported by a secured bank facility, SPV asset facilities, and senior unsecured debt. As of June 30, 2026, the company has $740 million in liquidity, including $704.6 million of bank line availability and $35.4 million of unrestricted cash, against no near-term maturities and $678.3 million of unfunded portfolio company commitments, part of which depends on covenant and transaction-related conditions.
