Alex Bosworth addresses the challenges in integrating point-of-sale (PoS) systems with the Lightning Network (LN). He explains that this integration involves a specialized flow that serves only a small percentage of users, making it a bootstrapping challenge.
Bosworth suggests a possible workaround by proposing a backdoor convention. This approach would scan normal transaction flow data and provide a standard method to convert these flows to the Lightning Network.
Bosworth has previously identified challenges in Lightning Network infrastructure. He noted that many public Lightning Network channels maintain only one-sided liquidity, limiting their effectiveness for routing transactions according to a recent commentary. In a separate post, Bosworth argued that reported fiat interest rates can mislead savers when real returns turn negative, as seen in his earlier analysis.
