Mark Carney announced the groundbreaking of Nouveau Monde Graphite’s Matawinie Mine, a project described as set to become the largest graphite mine in the G7.
According to Carney, development has started just six months after the project was referred to the Major Projects Office. The mine is expected to create more than 1,000 career opportunities and catalyze nearly $2 billion of economic activity.
François Legault recently announced 15 major projects generating over $100 billion in investments and 60,000 jobs as part of efforts to diversify the economy. Separately, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the Canada Grocery and Essentials Benefit will deliver extra funding to more than 12 million Canadians. Both moves highlight the government’s continued focus on economic growth and household support.
