AI fuels infrastructure need in Asia Pacific

Makhtar Diop highlights that the rapid growth of AI is increasing the need for digital infrastructure and energy across the Asia Pacific region.

He participated in a roundtable in Singapore with representatives from Actis, Vantage Data Centers, YCO Cloud, Mastercard, and Google Cloud to discuss the role of partnerships and private capital in financing these critical developments.

Diop previously highlighted a World Bank Group initiative to provide over $235 million to help Caribbean countries recover from hurricanes, according to a recent report. He has also noted that protecting oceans presents an economic opportunity, with the ocean economy projected to exceed $5 trillion by 2050, as stated in his comments on the sector. These efforts reflect his ongoing focus on large-scale development and recovery projects.
