French services inflation eases in June

Frederik Ducrozet reports that French services inflation eased to 1.8 percent in June.

He adds that German Länder CPI data still show upward pressure on transport and tourism-related services for June. Ducrozet points out it remains uncertain how much of a reversal will be seen in the euro area HICP in tomorrow's release.

Earlier this year, Frederik Ducrozet reported a sharp rise in services inflation that could keep the ECB on alert ahead of an expected rate hike, according to his previous analysis. The ECB delivered its first rate increase since September 2023, raising inflation forecasts and lowering its GDP outlook for 2026, as Ducrozet noted in a subsequent report. The latest national figures provide further data for policymakers tracking euro area price trends.
