Germany faces weak growth outlook

Daniel Kral points out that after Finland's statistical office identified an upward adjustment equal to 1.5% of GDP, Germany is now isolated at the bottom of the European growth rankings, with its economy remaining flat since 2019.

He adds that recent forecasts for German growth in 2026–2027 have been consistently revised downward, and a stimulus-driven recovery does not appear imminent.

Kral previously reported that German industrial output was flat in April, with declines in the car sector balanced by gains in energy-intensive manufacturing sectors. He has also highlighted how recent euro appreciation has strained German exports to the U.S., with currency factors further challenging growth prospects. Expectations for a broad industrial turnaround remain subdued.
