U.S. business applications surge in June

James Pethokoukis highlights that, on average, 466,000 Americans have applied to start a business each month since the beginning of 2024, citing data from the Census Bureau.

In June 2024 specifically, new business applications reached 531,000, which is nearly double the 2019 monthly average.

Earlier this month, James Pethokoukis reported that the S&P 500 rose 9.3% year-to-date through July 2, with a target of 8250 considered achievable. He has also tracked major stock moves, including when the Uber share price fell over 16 percent year to date due to investor concerns about competition from AV providers. These updates provide additional context to current business and market activity.
