Open source models see token growth but closed labs hold $AI economics, Brad Gerstner notes
Open source gains in AI tokens

Brad Gerstner observes that open source artificial intelligence models are increasing their share of tokens, although both open and closed models are still early in their development phases and growing rapidly.

However, he points out that around 90% of share of wallet and AI-related economic benefits continue to accrue to closed or frontier labs, despite earlier forecasts suggesting a shift. Gerstner raises the question of if or when this distribution will change.

Gerstner has previously highlighted broader developments involving technology and markets. He recently noted the upcoming White House event with NYSE and Nasdaq, citing participation by U.S. President Donald Trump. His comments span topics from market structure to shifts in the tech economy.
