Iran crisis may boost U.S. diesel price

Robert Colvile warned that escalating tensions at the start of the Iran crisis could have significant effects on diesel prices in the U.S. market.

He noted that the U.K. imports a large amount of diesel from the U.S., and disruption in this supply chain would likely drive up prices for the remaining fuel available.

Colvile has previously analyzed how higher British bond yields lead to increased mortgage costs, noting the impact on borrowing rates in the UK here. He has also reported that hiring a 21-year-old in the hospitality sector is now 78 percent more expensive than in 2019, reflecting rising labor expenses here. These observations add to Colvile’s recent warning about potential diesel price increases amid the Iran crisis.
