Houston bitcoin mining facility faces new setback

A planned 6MW bitcoin mining data center in Houston, Texas encountered a significant setback after the facility's fuses blew while closing the air break. Javier Hermosa, who has been working on the project with Braiins for the past 12 months, disclosed that the latest technical issue occurred just two weeks after the team believed the center was ready to operate.

Hermosa said the project has faced numerous problems and complexities resulting in long delays.

Hermosa previously noted that bitcoin mining and batteries were key factors in reducing ERCOT demand response revenues from $100,000 per MW in 2023 to $13,000 in 2025, according to a recent report on ERCOT revenue. He has also argued that bitcoin mining plays an essential role in enabling flexible energy solutions for European power grids integrating renewables and AI. The latest issues at the Houston facility add to ongoing challenges facing bitcoin mining operations.
