John Redwood: Economic outcomes after U.K. Brexit vote differed from initial remain forecasts
Brexit forecasts and actual economic results

Forecasts by remain supporters ahead of the U.K.'s Brexit referendum predicted higher unemployment, falling house and share prices, and a recession if the country chose to leave the European Union.

John Redwood questioned the credibility of renewed claims that rejoining the EU would result in faster growth, citing the fact that the actual outcome after the Brexit vote saw GDP, share and house prices rise, and unemployment decline.

Redwood has previously highlighted shifts in UK government bond markets. He reported that the 10-year UK bond yield climbed to 5.48 percent, surpassing the French rate of 4.88 percent in recent coverage. In another update, Redwood noted the 30-year UK bond yield reached a new 6 percent high, exceeding its 2022 peak amid criticism from the Labour party in a separate report.
