Price level under floor system debated

Roger Farmer questioned whether the price level is determinate under a floor system of monetary policy. In a social media post, Farmer also indicated he does not believe in the fiscal theory of the price level (FTPL), at least in its current form, and asked George Selgin whether there is a concise summary of Selgin's views on how monetary policy operates under a floor system.

Farmer has previously commented on tax policy, stating that UK evidence shows a 52% tax rate is already above the optimal point of the Laffer curve for government revenue. He has also noted that Americans have become much wealthier since 1989, while warning about rising inequality. His recent remarks continue his engagement with macroeconomic policy debates.
