Jameson Lopp: Reports surface of new snail mail scam impersonating Ledger
Ledger scam letters use QR code trick

Reports have surfaced of a new round of physical letters resembling communication from Ledger that aim to deceive recipients into scanning a QR code, which then leads to software designed to steal their seed phrases.

Jameson Lopp, board member at Casa, shared this information and described the method as a form of social engineering using traditional mail.

Lopp has previously cautioned that third-party bitcoin custody through an ETF does not eliminate loss risks and may expose users to additional vulnerabilities, as noted in earlier remarks. He has also criticized the trend of users moving from one centralized provider to another following security lapses, according to a separate report. These past observations highlight ongoing concerns surrounding asset security and risk management in the crypto sector.
