BIS flags circular financing, private opacity

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is highlighting issues of circular financing, concentrated upstream linkages, and opacity in private markets.

Edward Dowd, Founding Partner at OceanSquare Asset Mgmt, compared BIS's assessment to dynamics seen during the 2000s telecom boom.

Dowd has previously raised questions about financial trends in technology sectors. He recently challenged Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s statements regarding CoreWeave's cost of capital, citing evidence of rising bond spreads. Dowd also described the slowing consumer economy and identified the AI build out as the main focus for capital deployment.
