Trusted funding channels could be used without chain enforcement, Alex Bosworth suggests
Trusted funding channels for merchants proposed

Alex Bosworth, Alex Bosworth of Lightning Labs, proposed the idea of having trusted funding channels for merchants and apps that operate without reliance on chain enforcement or on-chain transactions. He suggested that channel messaging could serve as an interface, allowing users to send and receive payments as if they have a Lightning Network channel, with the ability to swap or send out to manage risk.

Bosworth has previously commented on the rising feasibility of tracking BTC hacks as new tools emerge, noting that catching thieves is becoming more practical (recent BTC hack tracing). He also discussed a project designed to provide practical cold storage guidance for everyday Bitcoin users (BTC cold storage guidance project). These initiatives add context to his current proposals for trusted Lightning Network channel infrastructure.
