Ripple National Trust Bank wins OCC approval

Ripple National Trust Bank has received final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

Stuart Alderoty, chief legal officer at Ripple, attributed this outcome to a choice made years ago to build within the regulatory framework rather than around it. Alderoty emphasized that clear rules and rigorous oversight help establish trust, which supports the scaling of new financial infrastructure.

Alderoty has previously called for U.S. Treasury stablecoin regulations that protect Americans who hold, lose, or self-custody digital assets, as detailed in prior remarks on stablecoin protections. He has also argued that a proposed SEC rule would bring increased transparency and accountability for new financial offerings to better protect participants, according to past commentary on new offerings. These positions highlight ongoing industry discussions around regulatory safeguards and oversight.
