Stock-picking hedge funds cut exposure by 9% since June, Morgan Stanley notes
Hedge funds unwind positions in October

Stock-picking hedge funds recorded their largest active unwinding of positions in more than a decade during October, with market exposure dropping about 9% since June, according to Morgan Stanley. More than 40% of these funds were flat or negative this year through October.

Lisa Abramowicz, a journalist and co-host on Bloomberg TV/Radio, reported these figures.

Abramowicz previously reported that the return gap between S&P 500 equal-weight and market cap-weight indexes in October reached its widest point since April 2009. In a separate piece, she covered Microsoft’s decision to offer buyouts to 60,000 employees despite business growth. These reports detail further signs of shifting trends across equities and corporate strategies during recent months.
