Rolls-Royce shares target GBX 1,400 after support rebound
Rolls-Royce stock is recovering after a positive update on the GCAP. A breakout above GBX 1,380 could open the way toward GBX 1,400, while the company's July 30 earnings report is expected to determine the stock's medium-term direction.
The main positive catalyst for Rolls-Royce has been progress on the Global Combat Air Programme. Together with Italy's Avio Aero and Japan's IHI, the company has moved closer to ground testing of a demonstrator engine for a next-generation fighter aircraft.
The partners have completed more than 100 individual component tests and are advancing toward final approval of the demonstrator's design. The project supports the long-term outlook for Rolls-Royce's Defence division and strengthens the company's position in military aviation.
This development helped the stock hold its key support level and post a modest rebound.

Recovery hinges on a breakout above GBX 1,380
Rolls-Royce stock has established a foothold above the key GBX 1,355 support level and is now approaching resistance at GBX 1,380, a scenario outlined in our previous analysis.
Further recovery will depend on the stock's reaction at GBX 1,380. A decisive breakout and sustained move above this level would increase the probability of an advance toward the psychological GBX 1,400 mark.
The move back above GBX 1,355 was accompanied by higher trading volumes, confirming renewed buying interest and strengthening the current bullish momentum. However, the stock must break above GBX 1,380 to extend the recovery.
Rolls-Royce earnings become the next key catalyst
The company's half-year earnings report, scheduled for July 30, will be the next major short-term catalyst. Investors will focus on free cash flow, operating profit, widebody engine flying hours, Civil Aerospace profitability, and new Defence orders.
Particular attention will be paid to whether management reaffirms its full-year guidance amid ongoing geopolitical and industry-related risks.
