Nvidia stock holds support as Cathie Wood buys the dip
Nvidia tests key support after AI financing push.

Nvidia remains at the center of the AI investment cycle after launching a major infrastructure financing initiative, while Cathie Wood used the latest pullback to increase exposure to the stock.

On August 10, Nvidia announced partnerships with Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR to create independent financing platforms for AI infrastructure. The initiative is designed to mobilize more than $500 billion in third-party capital, helping customers fund the construction of AI factories and purchases of Nvidia computing infrastructure. The agreements are currently structured as memorandums of understanding and remain subject to final contracts.

Despite the scale of the announcement, the market reaction was muted, with NVDA falling roughly 2.8% on August 10. Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest used the weakness to add Nvidia stock across five funds: ARKK, ARKQ, ARKW, ARKF, and ARKX.

$217 becomes the key level for the next move

The scenario outlined in the previous analysis did not materialize. Instead of extending its decline, NVDA climbed to $224.76 before retreating back toward support at $217.

That makes $217 the key level for today’s trading session. A decisive break and sustained move below it would increase the probability of a decline into the $214–212 area, where the nearest support zone is located.

If buyers manage to defend $217, it would signal that demand remains intact at current levels and bring the $220–225 range back into focus. The market’s reaction around $217 will therefore be important in determining Nvidia’s short-term direction over the next several sessions.

Leverage risk rises ahead of the earnings report

The next major catalyst will be Nvidia’s second-quarter FY2027 earnings report, scheduled for August 26 after the market close.

As the release approaches, medium-term traders may want to be especially cautious with leveraged positions. Nvidia has historically seen sizable price swings around earnings, while the current broad $212–225 range already points to heightened sensitivity to fresh headlines.

Reducing excessive leverage ahead of August 26 could therefore limit the risk of forced position closures during a sharp move, particularly if volatility increases further over the coming weeks.
