BT Group shares pause near resistance as 5G monetization advances
BT Group is maintaining its recovery momentum, although upside remains capped by resistance at GBX 205. The 200-day SMA near GBX 199.50 remains the key level to watch.
EE has launched Fast Lane, the UK’s first commercial network-slicing service for consumers and small businesses. The technology automatically moves customers onto a dedicated segment of the 5G+ network during periods of heavy demand to help maintain connection speed and stability.
Fast Lane is available through the new premium Full Works Plus plan and relies on EE’s expanding 5G+ infrastructure, which already covers around 54 million people, or 78% of the UK population. BT also plans to extend 5G+ coverage to 99% of the population by the end of March 2030 as part of £40 billion in UK investment.
For BT Group, the launch supports its strategy of monetizing network investment through premium connectivity and new 5G services.

Holding GBX 199.50 keeps the recovery scenario intact
BT shares continued to move toward the previously discussed resistance at GBX 205 but fell short of a full test and entered a modest pullback.
For today’s trading session, GBX 199.50 becomes the key level, with the 200-day SMA located nearby. If the price slips back below this indicator, the next area of interest would be GBX 196.50, where the 50-day SMA is located.
As long as the shares hold above GBX 199.50, the recovery scenario toward GBX 205 remains intact. A break above this resistance could open the way toward GBX 210.
A sustained move below the 50-day SMA near GBX 196.50 would invalidate the current scenario and weaken the short-term technical structure.
Network investment supports the broader outlook
The launch of Fast Lane shows that BT is gradually turning its large investments in 5G+ infrastructure into new higher-value commercial products. This supports the longer-term fundamental case, although the near-term impact on financial performance is likely to remain limited.
For the shares, the main question is still technical. Holding above GBX 199.50 keeps another move toward GBX 205, and potentially GBX 210, in play.
