Nvidia stock rebounds as new AI power alliance targets data center constraints
Nvidia is trying to extend a short-term rebound while the corporate backdrop remains supportive. However, today’s Fed decision could quickly shift market attention from AI catalysts back to bond yields.
Nvidia, Google and Emerald AI announced the formation of the AI Energy Management Alliance of some 20 companies from the AI and energy industries. The alliance seeks to develop a more adaptive data center power consumption model that would enable facilities to cut demand from the grid at peak times and speed the adoption of new AI capacity.
AI regulations also take centre-stage. The FT reported that, faced with a coordinated slowing down of AI development and new restrictions, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang pushed back and said AI safety should predominantly be down to the devs.

Break above 50 SMA keeps $218.15 in focus
Nvidia stock is beginning to play out the short-term rebound scenario. The key condition is for the regular session to open and then hold above the 50-day SMA near $213.20.
If that happens, the next target would be the unfilled September 11 gap at $218.15. If momentum remains strong, the move could extend toward $220.
A drop below $209 followed by a sustained move under that level would invalidate this setup.
Fed decision could sharply increase afternoon volatility
The main risk for Nvidia today comes from the Fed, meaning volatility could rise sharply during the second half of the regular session.
JPMorgan is cautious before the meeting. If the Fed keeps rates steady, but bond yields climb further on rising inflation expectations, the bank estimates the S&P 500 could fall 1.25%-1.75%. JPM sees that risk coming from a selloff at the long end of the yield curve and a hit to confidence in Fed policy.
For Nvidia, which remains highly sensitive to changes in Treasury yields, that creates the potential for sharp moves in either direction after the decision and during the press conference. Short-term traders should therefore account for a significantly higher risk of false breakouts and rapid reversals later in the session.
