Cybercab has now returned to the spotlight for investors. Federal regulators want Tesla to clarify how it managed to certify a fully autonomous car with no steering wheel or pedals as meeting safety standards. Tesla will have to answer 21 questions from the regulators by Sept. 30.

The review fuels an additional dimension of doubt over Tesla's robotaxi venture, which is yet another piece of the puzzle for its long-term investment case.

The macro backdrop also remains restrictive. On September 16, the Fed raised rates by 25 basis points to 3.75–4.00%, citing resilient domestic demand and still-elevated inflation.

Tesla needs a break above $364.50 to retest $368

Tesla continues to trade within the previously highlighted $351.50–368 range. A move beyond either boundary is likely to determine the next short-term direction.

For today’s session, an important resistance area is the short-term trendline around $364–364.50.

If the regular session opens above this zone and the price manages to hold there, the probability of a test of $368 would increase noticeably. A sustained move higher could then extend toward $375. This remains the base-case scenario through the end of the current trading week.

A break and sustained move below the 50-day SMA near $351.50 would invalidate the setup.

Tesla holds steady as external risks continue to build

The regulatory concerns about Cybercab have yet to significantly weaken Tesla's technical structure, a sign that demand is still fairly strong. However, the combination of tighter Fed policy and continued uncertainty around the autonomous-driving business could keep volatility elevated.

As long as Tesla remains inside the $351.50–368 range, the market is effectively holding a neutral balance. A breakout from that range would be a much more important signal than individual intraday moves within it.
