  • Momentum indicators signal persistent buy pressure, but multiple overbought readings suggest a risk of near-term cooling.

Overbought signals as technicals confirm ongoing upside

AMAT is positioned above the MA-20 at $481.34 and MA-50 at $468.44 on the hourly chart, and remains well above the longer-term MA-200 at $422.49 on the daily timeframe. The Ichimoku Kijun sits at $485.3, offering immediate support. Technical signals show persistent buy-side strength: MACD and ADX confirm ongoing momentum, while the Stochastic RSI, RSI at 78.98, CCI, and Bull/Bear Power all reflect overbought conditions. The Awesome Oscillator also aligns with continued upward movement. However, AMAT ended the session trading near the day's low after moderate volatility, signaling a need for near-term caution in light of these overextended indicators.

Bullish continuation expected as trading range narrows

Looking ahead, AMAT is expected to consolidate within the $490.62 to $514.32 range over the next two to three trading days. The likelihood of a continued advance is very high, with limited chance of a deeper pullback. Under the baseline scenario, the price oscillates in this volatility band. A bullish break above $514.32 could target new highs, while a move below the Kijun at $485.3 would shift focus toward the range’s lower boundary.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, notes that AMAT displays firm technical strength above all major moving averages. He observes that momentum indicators show persistent buying but warns these are now deep in overbought territory, which calls for tactical caution. Kharitonov sees short-term upside as likely, yet stresses that stretched conditions could spark fast reversals if the Kijun support is breached. "Until price decisively breaks below $485.3, my base case is sideways-to-higher, but I remain defensive and watch for a loss of momentum."

Previously it was reported that Applied Materials was consolidating within a defined range, with ongoing technical resistance limiting immediate upside. The current setup underscores bullish momentum but highlights the need to monitor for potential pullbacks if price fails to sustain above immediate support at $485.3.
