Intel stock forecast: Can $100 support stabilize the selloff?
Intel stabilizes as AI hopes meet macro risk

Intel is trying to stabilize after another sharp decline as fresh GPU details keep the AI story alive. The immediate test is whether $100 can hold before earnings and another wave of macro-driven volatility.

Intel has provided new information about their D-series GPU, which was known by the code name Crescent Island before. It uses the Xe3P architecture and will be used mainly for AI inference, long context tasks, and running many models at once. The company highlights the high memory capacity and the possibility to install these GPUs into already existing systems without using any special liquid cooling.

CEO Lip-Bu Tan also highlighted what he sees as one of the industry’s biggest constraints. Speaking at the DBS conference, he said rising capital costs and uncertainty over future returns on investment could become a serious obstacle to further AI infrastructure expansion. Even so, he continues to expect strong demand for computing capacity over the next several years.

A hold above $100 could open a rebound toward $106.50

The bearish scenario from the previous analysis has now played out in full. Intel stock failed to stay above $110, and the decline subsequently reached the $102.50 target. On October 12, the price touched $101.35, marking a third consecutive session of losses.

For today’s session, psychological support at $100 becomes the main level to watch.

If buyers fail to defend it, selling pressure could intensify quickly. In that case, the next downside reference would be the September 4 gap near $96.

For now, however, the base case is for Intel to attempt to stabilize around $100 and stage a short-term rebound toward resistance at $106.50.

A stronger reversal signal would ideally come with a high-volume daily candle and a convincing hold above $100.

Chip stocks face several weeks of event-driven trading

The next few weeks could remain especially volatile for semiconductor stocks. CPI, swings in Treasury yields, earnings from major technology companies and geopolitical developments all have the potential to reset investor sentiment toward AI names quickly.

Intel adds another company-specific risk event on October 29, when it is scheduled to report quarterly results. Until then, even strong product announcements may struggle to outweigh the broader market backdrop.
