Intel faces a key test at $110

Intel is trying to stabilize after a sharp pullback as concerns around Terafab begin to ease. The next move now depends on whether $110 support can hold against a tougher macro backdrop.

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan confirmed that the company will continue working with Elon Musk on the Terafab project. The comments came after concerns emerged that potential TSMC involvement could reduce Intel’s role in the initiative.

Musk also sought to ease those concerns, clarifying that talks with TSMC do not mean the company would take over a central role in Terafab. According to Musk, TSMC could potentially lease part of the project’s capacity, but that would not displace Intel’s existing involvement. After falling roughly 5.7% over two sessions, Intel shares managed to stabilize on October 7 even as most chipmakers traded lower.

At the same time, rising U.S. Treasury yields and higher oil prices have intensified concerns around inflation and tighter financial conditions, weighing on the AI and semiconductor sectors. Intel was down roughly 1.9% in premarket trading alongside other technology stocks.

A break below $110 could accelerate Intel’s correction

Intel shares failed to hold the previously identified $111.50–115 support zone, invalidating the rebound scenario toward $127.

Attention now shifts back to psychological support at $110. A break and sustained move below this level could trigger further downside toward $106.50 and then increase pressure toward the 50-day SMA near $102.50.

A recovery back above the $111.50–115 area would reopen the possibility of a move toward $127.

For that scenario to develop, however, the market will likely need a more supportive external backdrop from either bond yields or geopolitics.

Intel needs macro relief to turn corporate progress into another rally

The Terafab story suggests that Intel’s broader AI thesis remains intact, with the company still involved in one of the most ambitious new semiconductor projects.

In the near term, however, the stock may depend more heavily on broader market conditions. With bond yields elevated and geopolitical uncertainty still in place, investors are finding it harder to sustain the same pace of re-rating across technology stocks.

Intel’s next major company-specific catalyst will be its quarterly earnings report on October 29.
